Description
My first digital drawing of 2018!
"Sand and Snow" represents two characters I have in my mind and it's about a piece of their relationship. Sand and snow are pretty much opposites but not quite like fire and ice. In cold deserts, sand and snow are common sights here in the Western United States and I find them to be beautiful opposites and companions. The "sandy" golden eagle over watches the "snowy" mountain lion and his shadow casts on her hide in a protective gesture. The mountain lion in turn watches her brilliant flying companion and keeps him safe from the ground while her light reflects on his shadowed feathers.
It was fun to think more conceptually with these two characters and practice in this painting style I haven't really done. I love the imagery of orange and blue, snow and sand, so there might be another piece exploring this in the future. This might actually be one of my favorite pieces I've done in a while.
